What you’ll be asked

The core of the quiz is geography. Sixteen dog breeds, each with a homeland, and your job is to match them. Some breeds wear their origins openly in their names; others have traveled so far, for so long, that their starting point comes as a genuine surprise. The remaining questions turn to breed records — the distinctions that set one breed apart from all the rest.

Two authors, one answer key

Fauna’s answers come from a dataset filled in twice. Two authors worked through the same fixed keys independently — a question catalog and structured tables that include dog and cat breed origins — and their entries were compared one value at a time. Of 196 keys, 194 matched. The two that did not both landed in dog territory: the tallest dog breed, and the Poodle’s country of origin. Both are genuinely contested, and a contested fact has no business behind a scored question, so we dropped them instead of ruling on them. What remains is the material both authors arrived at separately.
