Cat Breed Quiz

A cat breed quiz of 16 questions on the breeds themselves — how they look and where they come from — answered and scored right on the page.

What you’ll be asked

Sixteen questions, all of them about cat breeds: the breeds themselves, the looks that set them apart, and the homelands they trace back to. Some questions start from a breed and ask after its coat, build, or country; others start from a description and ask which breed it fits. If you can tell your longhairs from your shorthairs, and you know why some breed names read like a map, this is the round for it.

The checking behind the answers

Breed origins are exactly the kind of fact that gets repeated in several versions, so Fauna handled them with its standard safeguard. Two authors filled in the breed-origin tables independently, against the same fixed keys, and the entries were compared one by one. Across the site, 194 of 196 keys matched. The two genuine disagreements were both about dogs — every cat entry matched on the first pass — and those two facts were dropped from the site rather than argued into an answer. A fact two careful writers cannot agree on has no business being the one correct option out of four.

How a round works

Each question shows four options. Pick one and the result is instant: right or wrong, with the correct answer displayed before you move on. At the end comes a question-by-question review of the full sixteen, and your best score is kept in your browser so a later attempt has a mark to beat. Nothing to sign up for, nothing to install — the quiz runs in the page you are reading, and a rematch is one click away.
