Pet Quiz
This pet quiz is seven questions about the animals that share our homes — including a few widely repeated claims that deserve checking. It plays right in the page.
The territory these seven questions cover
Living with an animal builds a certain confidence. You feed the cat, you walk the dog, and after a few years you feel you know the species. The quiz tests that feeling. Its seven questions stay close to home — the animals that live with us — but they lean on the details that familiarity tends to blur.
Myths are part of the ground here. Some claims about pets get repeated until they sound like knowledge, and a few of the questions put exactly those claims in front of you, next to three alternatives.
How the answers were checked
Behind every question on Fauna sits a dataset built twice over. Two authors independently filled in the same fixed keys — a catalog of questions and a set of structured tables covering animal classes, baby-animal names, collective nouns, breed origins, and animal sounds. The finished versions were compared value by value: 194 of 196 keys agreed, and the two facts that turned out to be genuinely contested were dropped from the site rather than scored. The quiz also steers clear of facts with a shelf life — nothing that a yearly revision or a changed record could quietly make wrong.
How the quiz runs
Every question comes with four options. Your pick is marked right or wrong on the spot, and the correct answer is shown either way, so a miss still leaves you with the fact. A review at the end walks back through all seven questions. Your best score is kept in your browser — no account, no download, nothing beyond the page you are already on.
