Fauna

Dog Trivia

Six dog trivia questions on how the dog senses the world, keeps itself cool, and starts out as a pup.

Six Questions About the Dog

This is a short quiz — 6 questions, all of them about the animal itself rather than any one breed. They cover the dog’s senses, the way a dog cools itself down, and puppyhood: how a dog starts out and what changes as it grows. Each question is a single concrete fact with four possible answers, and only one of them holds up.

Why You Can Trust the Answers

Fauna’s answers come from a dataset filled in twice, by two authors working independently against the same fixed keys. When the two copies were compared value by value, 194 of 196 keys agreed. The dog corner of the dataset supplied both of the disagreements: the tallest dog breed and the Poodle’s country of origin came back different from each author. Neither fact was scored. Both were dropped, on the grounds that a fact two careful people cannot agree on has no business anchoring a multiple-choice question. What survived into this quiz is only the material both authors wrote down the same way.

How It Plays

The quiz runs right here in the page. Four options per question, an instant right or wrong the moment you pick, and the correct answer shown whether you got it or not. When the sixth question is done you get a review of the full set, and your best score stays saved in your browser. There is no account to make and nothing to install — six questions, and the dog you thought you knew.
