The WBC-INCO-NET project, a project funded by the FP7 International Cooperation programme, aims at enhancing integration of the Western Balkan countries (WBC) in the European Research Area. The project assists in developing the relationship between the EU and the WBCs in the area of science and technology (S&T) and supports the Steering Platform on Research for the Western Balkan countries.
As part of its Innovation support activities, the project organises a training workshop for RTD stakeholders in the field of Knowledge Transfer and Innovation Support. The seminar addresses innovation intermediaries, technology transfer officers, as well as members of the academic and business community from the Western Balkan countries. It will take place in Becici on Friday 23rd September 2011 and it is co-organised by the local Directorate for the Development of Small and Medium-sized Enterprises (www.nasme.me) and the South East European Research Centre (SEERC: www.seerc.org) based in Thessaloniki, Greece. Both organisations are partners to the WBC-INCO-NET project.
This 1-day workshop intends to provide the necessary guidance and information through in-depth training sessions combined with practical and case study examples. At the end of the workshop, participants are expected to have acquired:
• a solid overview of the basic concepts, tools and policies in Knowledge Transfer
• understanding of the role and operation of a Knowledge Transfer Office (KTO) as well as its utility and benefit for the work of academics and business members.
• insight on the terms, negotiation, management, and monitoring of IP agreements for maximum benefit both to Universities and to the business community.
