Four newly opened info-offices for Energy Efficiency were officially opened today in Niksic, Cetinje, Berane and Bijelo Polje.
In accordance with the Memorandum of Understanding signed 22. September, 2009, the German organization for technical assistance and cooperation – GTZ ASE, in cooperation with the Directorate for SME Development have started with the project “Enhancing energy efficiency in Montenegro”, which initially focused on capacity building – education of staff in regional and local business centers in Montenegro (Niksic, Berane, Cetinje and Bijelo Polje).
Training for advisors for Energy Efficiency was held in December 2009, at which representatives of five regional / local business centers participated (Berane, Niksic, Bijelo Polje, Cetinje and Kolasin – 14 participants). The legislative framework for energy efficiency in Montenegro training was presented, as well as regulation, implementation, and project itself the “Year of Energy Efficiency”. Furthermore, the energy certification of buildings was presented, thermal insulation, heat losses, alternative energy sources, economic evaluation of energy efficiency projects, as well as credit lines for energy efficiency.
In this way regional business centers will also be info-centers for energy efficiency for small and medium enterprises, and for citizens.
The focus of cooperation is to promote and advise on the implementation of energy saving measures and renewable energy sources, which contribute significantly to sustainable economic development, job creation, increased production, environmental protection and improving overall conditions of work and life.

The value of the current GTZ support to these activities amounted to approximately â‚¬ 25,000. Plans are to enlarge network of info-offices of Energy Efficiency and expand to other regional business centers in Montenegro.
GTZ project ASE is present in Montenegro since April 2008 and the full range of its activities, provides support and assistance to Montenegro and its institutions in the field of energy efficiency.
