Friday, 28th November 2008, in the Directorate for development of small and medium sized enterprises the European Information and Innovative Center of Montenegro was solemnly opened. The Center opened Mr. GÃ¼nter Verheugen, deputy president of the European Commission, and commissioner for entrepreneurship and industry, and Mr. Branimir Gvozdenović, minister for economic development. Opening session attended, beside representatives from the Government of Montenegro and delegation of the European Commission in Montenegro, representatives of diplomacy in Montenegro, business associations, as well as Montenegrin entrepreneurs.
Having opened the Center, deputy president of the European Commission, Mr. GÃ¼nter Verheugen pointed out that new entrepreneurship network (Enterprise Europe Network) represents significant initiative, which will help small and medium sized enterprises to develop their potential and innovative capacities. In his salutatory, Mr. Zoran Vukcevic, director of the Directorate for development of small and medium sized enterprises stressed that, on the way to the internationalization of Montenegrin enterprises, big role would have the European Information and Innovative Center of Montenegro. The Project European Information and Innovative Center of Montenegro has shown that Montenegro has potential to prepare independently the project in accordance with the methodology and regulations of EC, and thus, according to the quality, deserves EC support. At the same time, this is also challenge for other organizations from Montenegro to prepare and candidate projects, because it is the best way of performing tasks for admission of Montenegro to EU, pointed out Mr. Vukcevic. Minister for economic development, Mr. Branimir Gvozdenović indicated that Montenegro has realized considerable amount of projects with the assistance of European Commission, as well as enhanced human capacities, and overall capacities of Montenegrin economy. The question of innovation of new technologies is particularly important for economy such as Montenegrin, and concluded that the Government will pay a special attention to innovations and technology competitiveness.
